Microsoft Discovery — Agentic AI platform for science

Overview

Microsoft Discovery is an enterprise platform designed to support R&D workflows using agentic AI across data-rich scientific tasks. Announced at Build 2025, it brings together orchestration, knowledge grounding, and extensibility to help researchers integrate models, datasets, and tools into repeatable workflows.

Key capabilities include agentic workflows, knowledge grounding, and extensibility for integrating models, datasets, and tools, enabling adaptability across research contexts.

Process

I embedded accessibility and inclusive design from the start, partnering with Responsible AI stakeholders and applying WCAG/EAA-informed practices across core experiences. I drove the UX vision, created wireframes and prototypes for iterative validation with SMEs, and partnered with product and engineering to refine usability for real workflows.

I orchestrated demo narratives, guided the UX for multi-agent collaboration, and defined reusable design system patterns that scaled across the platform while aligning with Microsoft's brand standards.

Impact

Discovery's initial experience was demoed at Build 2025 to illustrate how agentic workflows can support human-in-the-loop scientific tasks. The prototype helped align teams on interaction patterns, orchestration concepts, and a Copilot-first experience model, while setting a foundation for iteration.

Accessible, brand-consistent design and clear cross-team alignment helped position Discovery with both internal leadership and the broader scientific community, laying groundwork for ongoing releases and adoption.
